Campus Networks

Campus Network
campus network: school, colllege, university

What is a Campus Network?

A campus network is an autonomous network under the management of a single entity that exists on a university or school campus or within a local geographic area such as a business park, a government centre, or a medical centre. While the network may be managed by a single entity, it may be used by different organisations. Often, a campus network provides and access path into a larger network, such as a metropolitan area network or the Internet.

In the case of a college or university, its campus area network is likely to interconnect a variety of campus buildings, including administrative buildings, academic buildings, university libraries, campus or student centres, residence halls, gymnasiums, and other outlying structures such as conference centres, technology centres, and training facilities.

Much like a University campus network, a corporate campus network serves to connect buildings.

Campus networks are normally interconnected with high speed Ethernet links operating over optical fiber such as Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

Imex & Campus Networks

Imex has been successfully installing campus wide data and voice distribution networks for over 20 years and have a vast experience in this area. Utilising established routing of fixed cabling through underground ducts and via overhead catinarys and incorporating new technologies including Free Space Optics (FSO) and wireless technology, connecting the ‘Campus’ is no longer a problem.

Our design enables centrally located data and telephony services to be distributed to anywhere on the campus quickly and efficiently. Moves and changes can be carried out by IT staff without the expense of a chargeable engineering visit to site.

From design through implementation to commissioning, Imex ensure that all aesthetic and technical aspects of the requirement are delivered.

In the case of a college or university, its campus area network is likely to interconnect a variety of campus buildings, including administrative buildings, academic buildings, university libraries, campus or student centres, residence halls, gymnasiums, and other outlying structures, like conference centres, technology centres, and training institutes.

We install and maintain campus networks regardless of size or location, including:
