Structured Cabling Systems

design and plan cable systems
Structured Cabling Systems

Structured cabling is building or campus telecommunications cabling infrastructure that consists of a number of standardised smaller elements (hence structured) called subsystems.

Structured cabling falls into six sub-systems:

One of the biggest advantages of having a structured cabling system is the reduction in maintenance costs of the cabling infrastructure and network. Having a structured cabling system ensures the same cabling system for Data, Voice and video resulting in fewer compatibility issues. A standard structured cabling system will support a wide variety of applications and hardware from all types of vendors.

Structured cabling systems allow the troubleshooting of problems to be quick and easy. Therefore the chances of the entire network going down are reduced. With a structured cabling system the entire network is divided into manageable blocks, therefore it becomes easier to test, isolate and correct specific points in the system with minimal disturbance to the network.

Having a structured cabling system means that future applications can be supported such as multimedia and video conferencing with little or no upgrade requirements.

Imex & Structured Cabling Systems

Imex consult, design, install, and maintain industry standard structured cabling systems for customers all over the UK. We work with software and system suppliers to provide installation of application and system specific cabling systems as well as directly for the end user.

We have a vast experience of installations into all building types from modern new builds to ancient listed properties. All installations are carefully designed around each specific requirement, with cable routing and containment systems selected to best suit the building's age and style.

Resilient Voice and Data Links to remote buildings are implemented using a variety of Free Space Optics (FSO) wireless and hard-wired technologies. Completed installations are tested and certified to comply with the relevant standards and fully documented. Test results are supplied as part of the ‘as installed' documentation pack.

Established in 1983 we have a vast portfolio of customers in a wide variety of business areas.
